Exploring the mind through art

How can art support discovering the aware, spacious, joyous, compassionate essence
at the heart
of all our suffering?

For over 25 years, I have been investigating how painting, drawing, photographing and writing can support my own spiritual path. My evolving mixed media visual art practice is informed both by my own conditioning as part of the western Jewish diaspora and by practices of awareness meditation, contemplation and compassionate action as understood in the Tibetan Buddhist Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions. Practices include freely combining drawing, painting, photography, monoprint, video, image and text, collage, asemic writing and artist’s book making as supports for meditation and contemplation.

I have learned a huge amount and continue to be amazed by how meditation, contemplation, everyday life and creativity seem to intimately support each other. My interest is as much in the process of inquiry through making, meditating, contemplating, reflecting and documenting as in the products at the end.

My work is available for purchase and is in collections in Europe and the USA. I accept art commissions and invitations to give talks and workshops on the relationship between meditation and creativity.

I am also a qualified art teacher and mindful creativity coach offering one-to-one, confidential, personalised art tuition, mindful creativity coaching sessions and creative art retreats online and from my art studio in rural Suffolk UK. I look forward to meeting you.
